Contraindications
Xenical should not be taken in the following circumstances:
- Patients with chronic malabsorption syndrome
- Patients with cholestasis
- Women who are pregnant or breast feeding.
- Patients who are known to be hypersensitive or allergic to any of the components of Xenical.
- Organic causes of obesity (eg low throid activity) should be excluded before the prescription of Xenical.
- Xenical and cyclosporine should not administered together as Xenical can affect the absorption of cyclosporine. It is recommended that they are taken with at least a two hour gap inbetween.
We make no claims as to the completeness of this list - there may well be other contraindications to the prescription of Xenical.
